Los Angeles, February 2002 Dotcom: Hot Tubs, Pork Chops and Valium, a new Chicago-made feature comedy satirizing the e-commerce startup world, will be screened at the Entertainment Technology Alliance in Pasadena on Saturday, February 23rd at 1PM. ETA presents a conference and exposition in partnership with top creative talent, leading technologists and entertainment industry executives debating current issues surrounding the convergence of technology and the entertainment industry.
"The hilarious film satire does for the high-tech boom what "This Is Spinal Tap" did for rock and roll it exposes the sheer inanity and insanity of it all”. -February edition of Telephony Magazine
The trailer can be viewed at the official theatrical web site, http://www.sneakykings.com.
The film follows nine months in the life of fictional Internet startup company Zectek.com, "the solution for e-tomorrow," chronicling the politics and pitfalls of young people raising money, burning money and riding the e-commerce roller coaster.
A sly comedy of manners, Dotcom unfolds through "behind-the-scenes footage" and interviews with the company’s twenty- and thirtysomething founders and employees about their personal and professional dramas as their lives are turned repeatedly inside out.
An ensemble cast portrays the principals of the company as they flirt, bicker and talk to the camera about their jobs and each other. Cast members include Mike Mazzara, Steve Walker, Matt O’Neill, Jamie McMillan, Katherine Ripley and Simeon Schnapper as one of the leads.
January was a triumphant month for the independent comedy Dotcom: Hot Tubs, Pork Chops and Valium. Completed last spring, the satirical take on the rise and fall of an internet startup took home both Best Comedy and Independent Spirit awards at the Slamdunk Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and was a hit at the Sarasota Film Festival. Poised to become the definitive “dot comedy” Dotcom: Hot Tubs, Pork Chops and Valium might prove to be the solution to America’s e-commerce hangover.
